Welcome to the Priddy Primary School website

Welcome to Priddy Pre-School     Registered Charity No:1056258  Ofsted registration. No. 143023

We can be found during term times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 9am to 12noon (or until 12:45pm with our ‘lunch club’ option) in Priddy Village Hall, adjacent to the Village Primary School .

Our pre-school was founded in 1995 by parents in the village. We are a member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, registered with Ofsted and a registered charity. Pre-School is governed by a committee made up of parents whose children attend.

Our Philosophy

We believe that Priddy Pre-School provides a unique environment with an emphasis on fun and fresh air where children are encouraged to develop to their full potential in their own time drawing on their own unique strengths & talents.

Priddy Pre-School is committed to providing equal opportunities to all children and their families and we are keen to promote a working partnership with our parents. We provide quality care and education within a fun, safe and stimulating environment. Our activities are planned to encourage social skills, understanding of the environment & community, physical coordination, pre literacy & numeracy skills and to nurture a love of all things creative.

Our Policies

Priddy Pre-School has clear views on the way individuals should be treated and the behaviour we expect from adults and children. These views are expressed in a comprehensive set of policies. Our policies are shown to all prospective parents and the policy folder and our Operational Plan are always available for anyone to view at any time.

Admissions

Priddy Pre-School is registered with OFSTED for a maximum of 20 children aged between 2 and 5 years of age, although it is our policy to accept children at the beginning of the half term in which they will become 2 ½ .

Some children settle very quickly at pre-school and others take a little longer to begin to feel settled. Please feel free to stay with your child, for as long as it takes for you both to feel happy. We do take children in nappies.

What to Wear

We encourage parents to choose our optional uniform garments of t-shirts & sweatshirts.

We also ask that children wear soft soled shoes for indoors play and have a change of clothes in a bag and wellies for wet outdoors play times.

Snack time

Milk is provided daily (warmed during the colder Priddy months!). Parents kindly donate a selection of fruit and healthy bread/cereal based snacks at break time which shared equally between all the children. We ask that you provide a bottle of water or squash for your child to access freely throughout the morning, however tap water is always available on request. Children will also sample foods that they have cooked or prepared as part of their activities, however we will pre-warn you to ensure that the food is acceptable to your child. We keep a list of  children’s specific dietary requirements and any allergies in our lockable kitchen cupboard to ensure that all needs are met.

Payment Structure

Priddy Pre-School is non-profit making organisation. The fee for each session is £9.00 (or £11.50 if you opt to stay until 12:45) to be paid in advance within the first two weeks of each half term. If this is a problem please speak to our leader, Rachel Gadd . Fees are not refundable if your child is absent. Your child is entitled to government funding beginning in the term after their 3rd birthday, this funding usually provides full payment of fees for children attending up to 15 hours a week, depending on the length of the term. Occasionally you may need to pay a top up fee if the term length exceeds the funding period. Please ask the chair or pre-school leader for further details.

Complaints

We view complaints as opportunities to learn and improve, should any parent feel dissatisfied they should approach either the Pre-School Leader or a committee member. Our complaints procedure will then be followed.

For further information, queries, comments or suggestions please do not hesitate to use any of the methods below to contact a member of staff or a committee officer.
